Therapy

The way I work is described as humanistic and integrative, which means that I draw from different theories such as psycho-dynamic, person centered, gestalt, body therapy and hakomi to form an understanding how we develop and therefore how we can heal. I work humanistically, so I will help you understand yourself and your feelings in order to gain more meaning in your life. At the core of humanism is a belief in people's ability to develop their potential and to take charge of directing their own life. I without doubt subscribe to this belief. I do not judge you and I will not push you to live a certain way. We will look at your life together; painful issues, thoughts and feelings will emerge, but this has to happen for progress to be made. The acknowledgment of these hurts, scars, wounds and sufferings in a safe, trustworthy and confidential space can lead you to better self-awareness and better relationships.
I am a very active participant in the therapy but I will not take away your pain or rescue you. I will be there to to guide and support you. Therapy is alive for me. I strive to be warm, real and spontaneous and be present to you. I will engage with you emotionally and intellectually, whilst also giving you the space to think about life in your own way and at your own pace.

“Compassion is not a relationship between the healer and the wounded. It's a relationship between equals. Only when we know our own darkness well can we be present with the darkness of others". Pena Chodron.
